On a continuation of holding our sanity during the busy of this season, we wanted to bring you some easy and tangible tips for smoothing out your days in the coming weeks.
We've broken down things into bite-sized pieces, for you to pick when you have some spare time! Take note, and help your "future self" out (we're looking at you, next week).
Quick actionables:
(10 min) Take an inventory of your fridge. Clear out things that are expired, or make sure to quickly use up the items that are close to perishing.
(5 min) Go ahead and give those tidy shelves a good wipe-down. What a difference this makes!
(10 min) Repeat the above for your freezer as well.
(15 min) The ultimate underrated spot that is worth giving a quick tidy: your vehicle! If you drive, and spend hours in your car commuting, giving this space a tidy and wipe-down can do wonders for your mental health.
(10 min) Write a list! Whether on a piece of paper, or in your phone so you have it on-the-go, keep a list of the at-hand things needed for your coming days. Whether it’s gifts to look for, or groceries needing to be picked up, a list can be your best friend this time of year.
Actionables for the coming week:
(30 min) Create meal plans (even if loosely!) for the busy weeks ahead. Write out your grocery lists for these items so you have it handy and aren’t overbuying when you find yourself at the grocery store.
(20 min) Additionally, consider the events and gatherings that are approaching and what you need to bring. Whether you’re asked to bring drinks or a side dish, or you’re providing the full meal, note it down and what you need to pick up. If you can buy the nonperishables now, this saves a surprising amount of stress and time than going at the last minute, especially as foot traffic starts to pick up and lines start to grow at stores in the coming weeks.
(2 hrs) Meal prep! Time this out according to how much time you are able to carve out. A whole afternoon? Or just an evening? Plan accordingly, and multiply your batches of cooking to make the most of your time, then pack things into the freezer to grab when the days are full! Schedule a couple small blocks of meal prepping now, and you’ll thank yourself later. This will be a great help in breezing you through the last couple weeks of the year!
(10 min) Speaking of groceries, next time you’re at the grocery store, pick up some to-go containers that you can easily pack leftovers in from big shared meals, to either send home with guests or to pop-in the freezer for later.
Lastly,
(10 min) Take ten minutes to pause! Take this time to be in the present moment and appreciate this season and those who are around you. If there's a practice that can never get old, it's practicing gratitude. Take this into these coming days and enjoy the transition into the new year!
From our whole team to you, we wish you a Merry Christmas! We'll see you in the New Year!
